The U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program between the United States and Israel

About us

The U.S. government's flagship international academic exchange program between the United States and Israel. The United States–Israel Educational Foundation (USIEF), currently known as Fulbright Israel, was established in 1956 by the Governments of the United States and Israel to administer the Fulbright Program in Israel. The Foundation aims to promote mutual understanding between the people of the United States and Israel by means of student and faculty exchanges at the highest possible level of academic excellence. The programs are open to excellent, path breaking scholars and promising students in all academic fields. Our commitment to social responsibility is evidenced by our designated programs, which support research, study, exchange of knowledge of cultures and customs and leadership development among underserved populations. In the years since Fulbright Israel's establishment over 1,500 US citizens and over 2,000 Israelis have taken part in a variety of Fulbright exchanges.

Gathered in Washington, we held a celebratory reception at the Hotel Tabard Inn to honor our Israeli fellows in the U.S..  Joined by esteemed ECA officials and our valued partners at Institute of International Education, the evening was a joyous one.  During the event, one of our fellows, Yara Haidar, delivered a speech, reflecting on her transformative experience as a master's degree fellow at University of Pennsylvania University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Her words resonated with everyone attending, encapsulating the essence of the Fulbright fellowship journey.   #IsraeliFulbrighFellows Fulbright Association

The Power of Storytelling! Our Israeli fellows participated in the “Art of Storytelling” workshop over two insightful days hosted by National Geographic in Washington DC last week. Under the guidance of Pete Muller, National Geographic explorer, and the talented team, including Lisa Lytton , Annie Agnone , and Gregory M., our fellows refined their skills and crafted personal and professional stories that resonated deeply. At the end of the workshop, the group of fellows - a dynamic blend of scholars and students, took center stage to deliver their stories, showcasing their remarkable professional and academic journeys. #storytellinging #NatGeoWorkshop #CraftYourNarrative #ILfellowsinUS #fulbrightisrael

Between the alleys and small streets of Nahalat Binyamin and the Carmel Market in Tel Aviv, a multitude of street art and graffiti can be found. Some portray hope, some are political in nature, while others express current events. Our U.S. fellows were lucky to experience these murals today, during a guided tour, given by Fulbright Israel alumnus, Brandon S. Gellis , who has just completed his fellowship as a distinguished scholar at Shenkar - Engineering. Design. Art. Thank you to Brandon for this insightful and thought-provoking tour. U.S. Fulbright fellows in Israel visited The Steinhardt Museum Of Natural History which provided them with deep insight into Israel’s national treasures of nature and our place within nature. The group also had the incredible opportunity to meet with the Museum Chair, Professor Tamar Dayan , a Fulbright fellow herself (1989 postdoctoral fellow), who shared her experience as a Fulbighter, the stages she took when establishing the museum, and the importance of the museum in helping to preserve the biodiversity and nature of Israel. We would like to thank Professor Tamar Dayan for this wonderful, unique experience.
